World Cup 2006 Day 25 - Result

Sunday 9 July
Aired on abc family here in the US, this game possibly watched by more than a billion people all over planet earth.

the FINAL

Match #64: Italy 1-1 France (Italy win 5-3 on penalties)

This is what happened:
Materazzi: 'I held his shirt for a few seconds only, then he (Zidane) turned to me and talked to me, jeering. He (Zidane) looked at me with a huge arrogance.'
Zidane: 'If you really want my shirt I'll give it to you afterwards'.
Materazzi replied with an insult, that's true.
Materazzi has not elaborated on what he did say, but one report suggested he responded with: 'I'd rather take the shirt off your wife'.

If I were Zidane, not only I would head-butt Materazzi, but also hire someone to shoot him in the head or slit his neck. Forget World Cup charm or etiquette or manner or fucking stupid people who criticize Zinedine Zidane for doing such act. But what Materazzi said to Zidane was bizarre, inappropriate, immorale and even hurt more than a simple head-butt. You need to kick him hard, Zizou!

Very unimportant game, unless you're German or Portuguese, this is more like a bonus game, and chance to score some goals for those players who need to get the Golden Shoe award.

World Cup 2006 Day 21 - Result

Saturday 1 July
I am at over 12,000 feet high by this time, attending 84th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. I brought my 13-inch TV, but my car battery is just too weak for it. I cannot comment on this one until I watch the replay. Lia, my wife, keep updating me the game progress by the phone. I already knew that England and KNVB will not pass quarter-finals.

World Cup 2006 Day 20 - Result

Friday 30 June
To be honest, this is the time to take sides and defend them until the last drop. Quarter Finals r here, Argentina, Italy, England, France will advance - those r my sides. I might like German car and beer, but not the football, not the leagues.
For today's games, we salute you!

QUARTER-FINALS

Match #57: Germany 1-1 Argentina (Germany win 4-2 on penalties)

Juan Riquelme, for sure leads Argentina with 65% ball posession. What I hate about this game, Germany doesn't really deserve the luck at all. They don't play the ball. Even Klosse looks like a drama player when he falls off all the time. Argentina schocked when they loosen their gameplay and defense, resulting so very bad equalizer.

Match #58: Italy 3-0 Ukraine

Experienced yet dramatic team like Italy is sure a serious threat to everyone in the tournament. Ukraine can't do nothing about it with only Shevchenko. 3-0 for Italy, bravo! Now they need to stop Germany from moving up to the Final after failing Argentina

World Cup 2006 Day 19 - Result

Tuesday 27 June
Today marks the end of second round, eight teams go straight home and eight others will continue fights against each other. They will rest for 2 days and resume battles on Friday June 30th 2006. You better place your bet now! This is going to be big.

SECOND ROUND
Match #55: Brazil 3-0 Ghana

All the credits go to Gana World Cup team as they play beautifully attacking game against the dreaded 1st in the world, Brazil. They win the ball posession, they win ball challenges, they even make Ronaldinho does barely a thing

SECOND ROUND
Match #56: Spain 1-3 France

F**king racist coach of Spain gets beat up by the improving France with Zinedine Zidane the Professor back in the field, and even scores one to seal up the place in quarter final against Brazil. This f**king racist Spanish coach shouldn't have been in the World Cup the first place anyway, f**cking moron! And then the whole Spain World Cup team are damned

Monday 26 June

SECOND ROUND
Match #53: Italy 1-0 Australia

The referee so loves drama, so Italy gives him fake unecessary dive and off course referee buys it: penalty awarded. Shame on you, Italy! I hope Ukraine beat your ass off

Match #54: Switzerland 0-0 Ukraine (aet - Ukraine win 3-0 on penalties)

Lame, very long match and boring performance by both, good value for ticket holders, ended with penalty shootout. They should've agreed to each other and had three or four equal goals on each side instead, to make it more interesting and ending it with same extra time and penalty shootout!

The Red Card Paradox

Reuter's columnist called it The Red Card Paradox, while FIFA governing body, off course, loves red cards.. here read this:
"Already, with 50 matches completed and 14 still to come, 19 red cards have been shown -- two more than in the whole of the 2002 World Cup. The all-time record of 22 reds shown in France in 1998 is likely to be broken some time this week."

World Cup 2006 Day 16 - Result

Here is the second round of World Cup 2006 Germany, only the best teams with the best footballers shall reach this round of elimination. Whoever lost bound for home. Winner must survive both normal 45-minute periods, they must fight the last of their energy in two 15-minute extra times, and if not, they shoot each other in the penalty shoot-out to determine who deserve the next stage, the quarter-final!

Saturday 24 June

SECOND ROUND MATCH ONE
Match #49: Germany 2-0 Sweden

Sverige needs to be more careful next time, specially in a world class football match such as this, and world class rival such as Germany. Two Podolski goals are really caused by carelessness of Sverige defenders. Congrats to Germany plays and wins against Sverige in Munchen Allianz Arena, just next to BMW Tower, and advances to quarter final to met either Argentina or Mexico!

SECOND ROUND MATCH TWO
Match #50: Argentina 2-1 Mexico

A stunning performance by Mexico, real stunning performance to shut Argentina at least until the 1st half of extra-time, when mistake begins to happen and nobody succeed to block Maxi's thunder shot. The referee leads the match very well, fair and elegant, even when Gabriel Heinze shows careless play and tackles Jose Fonseca from the front, referee gives him yellow warning. The game moves on clean till the end of 2nd half extra time. Argentina will meet Germany.

GROUP H

Match #45: Ukraine 1-0 Tunisia

A very narrow victory for Ukraine indeed, are they going to survive the second round with this kind of performance? Let Switzerland answers them

Match #46: Saudi Arabia 0-1 Spain

Saudi Arabia knew before kick off they had to score at least four goals to stand a chance of qualifying, who had changed their entire starting 11, to feel their way into the match. For Spain, win or lose doesn't really matter, they've won two previous games, in addition they have great fans like these two chicks

Referee Horacio Elizondo overrules his linesman and award the Swiss a second goal on 77 minutes. Lucky him none of these Koreans brought dagger

World Cup Day 13 is unlucky for some ...

As we all know the number 13 is not really favorable to most of us, and here in the World Cup event day 13 shows lots of unfavorable moment for some..
Lots of yellow and red cards happening on this day, referees are gettin' harsher and harsher everyday of World Cup Germany. I personally disagree with this, maybe not for the Italians, but this referees behavior is leading to a negative game, and lots of teams easily win with the help of referees..
Here is podcast from Guardian Unlimited, a UK media, talking about how unlucky day 13 can be for some of those teams who play on this day.

World Cup 2006 Day 13 - Result

Wednesday 21 June
This day is bookings day, lots of yellow and red cards issued by referees which most of 'em are questionable.

Luis Perez receives a harsh second yellow card for diving. Harsh referee can be found easily in this world tournament, turning games into negative plays.. just like Italian football

Match #38: Iran 1-1 Angola

Even when player is down, referee of this tournament would love to give warning card. Vahid Hashemian of Iran is shown the yellow card after a challenge on Loco

What is the fucking wrong with referee Marco Rodriguez? He issues Nadj's second yellow booking..
Great saves Van der Sar, but if your boys continue play like shit, your team ain't gonna advance to quarter final at all

World Cup 2006 Day 11 - Result

Monday 19 June
This day ends the 2nd battle stage for all groups, since the last group, H, plays today and Spain securing ticket to the big 16. The third group battle stage will begin tomorrow. For you maniacs, this is the beginning of heartpounding moments. Where weak teams will go home and only two of each group advance to the next elimination round, except for group A and B that determined their destiny already.
At home, you might want to add one more tv just aside the one you already have in living room..
because game three will be played at the exact same time, all teams in each group play against each other at the same time. To prevent "elephant football syndrome", a very negative and unfair footballing attitude, they must take the first place or what not.
I am ready, I've been ready, so watch real responsibly! This is going to be great..

Google Video: Brazil vs Croatia

Hey, few days ago I uploaded 2 videos of England matches against Paraguay and Trinidad/Tobago, but somehow, Google Video rejected all of 'em. Here is their message to me: "Your video "England vs Paraguay 1st Half Saturday 10 June 2006" was rejected because it didn't comply with our Program Policies. bla bla.."
I guess I need to talk to abc, espn or espn2 first before publishing these videos. But somehow I found this full match Brazil v Croatia on GV! Well this doesn't sound fair at all..
